about

"then a wind came" is a departure, a practice, a long breath, a cleanse. I wanted to focus on what would happen if I just sat down to record with no plan, no thoughts, and this is what came from that. Of course I was foolish to think that I wouldn't be guided by the ever changing scape of life and the past. These songs became stories of the wind. Not a gentle breeze, but the prairie wind, one that blows the screen door back, the clothes off the line and the winter into the spring. A wind that shakes the house and your spirit, taking the doubt and fears gathered in your heart and spreading them over the hills, breathing new life into what was torn and grey.

This is music for the in between times, for headphones in the garden, a drive without thoughts, doing the dishes, making soup.

These songs were recorded in my home and in a shared spaced called the "friend cave" outside of Durham, North Carolina over the span of a few years. My ever faithful friend David Thomas did some percussion on it. I found a song Nathan Dixey and I made in 2009 that made it on here as well. Steve Squire mastered it, as he does with most of my low quality home recordings. The wonderful art is by my "prairie god mother", Jane Booth. Please check her work out at janebooth.com There will be a limited run of prints and poems to accompany this album once we've raised the funds for it.

Thanks so much for your support, I am really happy to have this out of my body and into the world. It means so much to continue to make music, so thank you for helping make that possible. - xoxo Taylor

Thank you to "the friend cave" for having such a wonderful space to make music in. I couldn't have done this without you. Thanks to Aimée for her support, and for just being such a life force in my existence, I don't know where I would be without her. Thanks to all my friends that have heard some of these songs over their formation and told me not to trash them. Thank you to Jane Booth and Jessica Price for making art to go with this music, you make this worth the effort. Excited to keep this up. love y'all.
